The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Airforce is a place that commemorates the sacrifice, honor, and character of a special group of American heroes: the airmen who flew deep into Nazi Germany during World War II to destroy Hitler’s Luftwaffe.
Maximum Effort, the museum’s capital campaign, is transforming the visitor experience and safeguarding its collection. It’s also making sure that remarkable stories of patriotism and daring will be shared for years to come.
Led by former Texas Governor Rick Perry, New York Mets President Sandy Alderson, and businessman John O’Neil, Maximum Effort is a nationwide campaign. Their fathers each served in the Mighty Eighth, so their involvement is personal and inspired—and the reason behind much of the campaign’s success.
Museum Executive Director Scott Loehr also credits the Winkler Group. “We could not be where we are today without the Winkler Group,” explains Loehr. “They gave our staff, our campaign steering committee, and volunteers the confidence to succeed every step of the way.”
