Philanthropy Outlook: Still Rosy

Total giving is predicted to increase by 3.6% in 2017 and 3.8% in 2018.  Experts believe these increases will be fueled by growth in the S&P and in personal income. These predictions were made in the just-released Philanthropy Outlook from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

Giving by individuals is still the largest giving sector, by far.  But as more donors turn to donor-advised funds and family foundations, there is a slight shift in the breakdown.

Giving to Health is predicted to grow 8.5% this year and 7.9% next, while giving to Education will grow 6.3% and 6%, respectively.
