Veteran Fundraiser to Head New Office
Charleston—The Winkler Group has expanded to New York. Tim Smeal, a career nonprofit fundraiser with two decades of experience, has been tapped to lead the firm’s new office.
Tim is the former Director of Development at the Jamestown Community College Foundation, where he oversaw the campaign study for the foundation’s capital campaign. He also led the fundraising program for Reg Lenna, a prominent New York theater, resulting in a 62 percent increase in first-time individual donors and a 30 percent increase in corporate sponsorships.
As an adjunct faculty member at SUNY Fredonia, Tim instructs the next generation of nonprofit leaders on the fundamentals of fundraising, grant writing, and organizational development.

Tim has a B.S. from Grove City College and is pursuing an M.A. from SUNY Buffalo. He is an active volunteer and currently serves the Audubon Community Nature Center, Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County, Chautauqua Institution NOW Generation, and Jamestown Public Market Advisory Committee.
Celebrating its 16th year, the Winkler Group has offices in Florida, Georgia, New York, and North Carolina in addition to its Charleston headquarters. The firm has recently been hired as counsel to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Charleston Southern University in Charleston, South Carolina; East Cooper Community Outreach in Charleston, South Carolina; Christian Care Ministry in Melbourne, Florida; the YMCA of Greater Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina; The Brook Hill School in Tyler, Texas; and South Carolina Environmental Law Project in Charleston, South Carolina.
