Winkler Group Welcomes New Team Members

Four exceptional leaders in the field of fundraising have joined the Winkler Group. Lisa Cottingham, Courtenay Fain, Colby Rankin will serve as Senior Consultants; Nicole Hess as Operations Support Assistant.  Each was recruited for their significant experience and dedication to philanthropy.

Lisa Cottingham, Senior Consultant

Ms. Cottingham brings over 25 years of experience serving national and international nonprofit organizations.

As the Director of Development for an international nonprofit, Ms. Cottingham managed a development office that created revenue growth from $8 million to $15 million in three years.  She also increased annual individual giving by more than 160%.  For another nonprofit, Ms. Cottingham increased major gift revenue by 400%.

Courtenay Fain, Senior Consultant

Ms. Fain, the President-Elect of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Lowcountry Chapter, is a former Director of Philanthropy for a leading community foundation with contribution revenues of $15 million annually.  She also led the development and marketing operations for a large community-based education nonprofit.

At the start of her career, Ms. Fain served as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill and then a White House appointee coordinating faith-based and community initiatives at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  She holds a CFRE certificate and a B.S. degree from Georgetown University.

Colby Rankin, Senior Consultant

Mr. Rankin was the Director of Development of a prominent college business school before joining the Winkler Group.  He helped lead the college’s $139 million capital campaign; his efforts to relaunch a previously dormant development program resulted in philanthropic commitments of $12 million in less than five years.

Mr. Rankin also served as a Major Gift Officer for the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation, where he cultivated and solicited gifts of $100,000 to more than $1,000,000 and secured numerous new seven-figure gifts.  He is a graduate of Virginia Episcopal School and Wofford College.

Nicole Hess, Operations Support Assistant

Prior to joining the Winkler Group, Nicole Hess worked with an international nonprofit organization and grew its monthly giving program by 12% in its first six months.  As volunteer coordinator for both a global nonprofit and community-based organization, Ms. Hess organized more than 4,000 volunteers.

Ms. Hess holds a B.A., cum laude, from Georgia Southern University.  She also holds a certificate in professional fundraising from Boston University.
